The Story Behind Class 5 Performance | A Tribute to AMMO History

Why "Class 5 Performance"?

When we founded Class 5 Performance, we wanted a name that reflected our roots and the journey that brought us here. The name "Class 5" is a homage to Class V munitions, a term that every AMMO troop knows by heart. As veterans and former Active Duty Munitions experts, we found it fitting to honor the legacy of our career field in the name of our company.

Our AMMO Journey

All three founders of Class 5 Performance came up in the world of military munitions. We met while serving in the United States Air Force, working in the Munitions Systems career field, often referred to simply as "AMMO." This field is responsible for the storage, handling, and deployment of munitions, playing a crucial role in the global operational readiness of our armed forces.

During our time in the Air Force, we were more than just colleagues; we became close friends despite coming from different walks of life. Our shared experiences, both challenging and rewarding, forged bonds that have lasted long beyond our military careers. We were fortunate to be part of a dynamic team that made significant contributions to the AMMO community.

Making Historic Changes

During our time in AMMO we were at the forefront of a paridigm shift within the career field. Somehow, as these things go in the military, we found ourselves on a small team of AMMO troops working on bringing about a massive IT system upgrade that reshaped munitions tracking and forced us to grow in ways we never imagined. One day we were E-5's towing bombs and turning wrenches and the next we were E-5's testing software, training thousands of people, and interacting with BIG DOGS.

We could sink or swim so we swam! Through long days and the stress of the unknown what kept us semi-sane was fitness. We all had to pass a PT test and we all trained in different ways but we were united by the task of lacing up and getting it done. Getting in some time for fitness even on the days when the sky was falling made us better and made us even more resilient. Growth shouldn't be easy, like a bird hatching from an egg, we found ourselves breaking out of the mould we had grown in and realizing that we could be more. 

A New Chapter: Class 5 Performance

Our journey from AMMO troops to entrepreneurs was a natural progression. The skills and camaraderie we developed in the military laid the foundation for our venture into the world of performance apparel. At Class 5 Performance, we bring the same level of precision, commitment, and excellence that defined our military careers.

Our mission is to provide top-tier performance apparel that meet the unique needs of Military, Veterans, and First Responders. Just as we ensured the highest standards in munitions management, we now ensure that our products are high quality and dependable. We are proud to serve those who serve and protect our nation.

Without our AMMO history, we wouldn't be where we are today. The name "Class 5 Performance" is a tribute to the career that brought us together and shaped our path. It's a reminder of our commitment to excellence and our dedication to supporting the warrior community.
